Popcorn Forage

Written by Kaeley Sullins

We recently watched some old movies of the chimpanzees when they still lived in the psychology building. In one of the movies, the caregivers put out a very clever popcorn forage! They placed popcorn in big bags and put them on top of their enclosures so it would rain down popcorn! I decided it was time to bring that forage back and I think the chimpanzees enjoyed it! We added some yummy dried fruit into the bags for a little variety!

In addition to popcorn we added dried pears, apples, bananas, peaches and raisins

I showed Tatu and Loulis what kind of surprises we were putting in the bags. I think they approved.

I also gave them a taste test

Tossing the popcorn on top of the night enclosures turned out to be more difficult than I had imagined…..

Taking some tool use tips from Tatu, I managed to get the bag down
